Dear Ross Whear,
Elstree and Borehamwood Green belt Society opposes the expansion of Sky Studios north of Rowley Lane Borehamwood on the grounds of loss of Green Belt land and drastic change and damage to the local area. The approach to Well End through Rowley Lane has hitherto been green and rural between leafy hedges. This will inevitably be devastated. The fields that would be lost are used for the grazing and stabling of horses in keeping with the rural character of the neighbourhood.
The additional traffic resulting will add to the already severe congestion in Borehamwood with associated noise and air pollution.
There are other film studios operating in the south of England and a limited market for mass entertainment so new studios could lead to over provision and the local jobs promised will be fewer and relatively unskilled as specialist technicians would be drafted in to work on a temporary basis.
With best wishes
Yours sincerely.
Ann Goddard Chair E&B Green Belt Society.

25th August 2022 : Letter to Cllrs Bright and Cohen (Phase I)
Dear Councillors Morris Bright and Harvey Cohen,
The Elstree and Borehamwood Green Belt. Committee at our meeting on 22. August noted that the trees and hedges between the new Sky Studios building and the roadway of Rowley Lane have been completely destroyed.
Wee understood that there was a planning condition to retain green screening and ask if pressure could be applied to Sky to replant the missing hedgerows.
With all good wishes
Ann Goddard
Chair Elstree and Borehamwood Green Belt Committee
Cllr Bright replied saying that he was sure the conditions were being followed but would look into it.
